International Association of gerontology

Submissions and nominations are invited in the fields of biology, clinical medicine, social and behavioural sciences related to ageing. Novartis is offering the sum of 50,000 Swiss francs to the winner of the research prize.

The prize is normally awarded every 2 years to individuals or teams who have made a significant research contribution in a particular area of gerontology or geriatrics, encouraged and trained younger research workers, or given impetus to progress in these fields in some other comparable way, for example through the publication of textbooks and journal articles.

2nd Perak Mental Health Convention

Perak's Hospital Behagia will be holding its 2nd Mental Health Convention in Ipoh from 9 to 10 October 1998. The theme is "Mental Health - A Time for Reflection." Participants are invited to submit abstracts for presentation. Abstract forms and guidelines may be obtained from SPA Secretary. The closing date for submission of abstracts is 31 July 1998.

XII International Psychiatric Conference

The Pakistan Psychiatric Society will be holding its 12th International Psychiatric Conference from 27 to 29 November 1998 in Quetta, Pakistan. The theme will be "Mental Health for the Undeserved Population." Interested participants may contact the SPA Secretary for more details. The closing date for submission of abstracts is 31 Jul 1998.

Announcement

The 21st Congress of the Collegium International Neuro-Psychopharmogologicum (CINP) will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from 12 to 16 Jul 98. SmithKline Beecham has offered to sponsor one local psychiatrist to attend the meeting. Ordinary members who are interested, please write to the Secretary, SPA by 9 June 98.
