SPA successfully holds both SPA Dinner 98 and 5th ASM - Ang Yong Guan

The SPA Dinner and the 5th SAM were successfully held on 28 and 29 Mar 98 at the Goodwood Park Hotel and Sheraton Towers respectively.

The SPA Dinner attracted 160 members, guests and friends of SPA. The Guest of Honour was BG (NS) Tan Yong Soon, Chairman of the WH / IMO Executive Board of Management. Besides a live band performance, several games were played and 20 lucky draw prizes were given away. And there were also "Oscar" Awards given to several psychiatrists. Dr Chua Hong Choon was the tireless MC throughout the evening, assisted by his efficient Dinner Sub-committee members.

The 5th ASM, held at Sheraton Towers, attracted about 140 participants. Dr Aline Wong, Senior Minister of State for Health and Education., delivered the Opening Address. Ms Claire Chiang, talked about "The X Factor in Mental Health" in the SPA Annual Lecture. Government, university and private psychiatrists presented papers related to the theme: Women and Mental Health.

There was no winner of the SPA Research Prize. Instead, two Merit Prizes (book voucher of $200 each) were won by Dr Anthony Ang and Dr Chua Hong Choon for their respective free paper presentations.

The 5th ASM ended at about 4.30om and was followed by the AGM.
