Result of the Annual General Meeting

SPA held its Annual General Meeting on 14 Apr 2000. A new committee under the leadership of Dr Ong Thiew Chai was elected. The Association would like to thank Dr Ng Li Ling and her team for all their hard work in the past year

The President’s address

Thank you for electing us into office. We will carry on the good work of our predecessors. SPA under our leadership plans to increase greater public awareness of the psychiatrists’ role and contribution in the mental health field. Our work has been both challenging and rewarding against great odds and lack of sufficient research knowledge and/ or theoretical basis at times. Nevertheless, these have not hindered us from helping countless number of people crippled by the human condition of mental illness.

SPA will plan more useful educational talks and increase opportunities for members to attend workshops and conferences both local and overseas. We will continue to better the standard of psychiatric practice. We see the need for better cohesion and involvement among members. Thus, our programmes for the year will be planned with these in mind.

Last but not least, we will give every support to the Organizing Committee for the success of the forthcoming ASEAN Congress.
