An Evening Symposium with
Dr Nancy Andreasen, MD, PhD

Venue: Pine Tree Club
SPA together with the Academy
of Medicine, Chapter of Psychiatrists, will be co-hosting
an evening symposium with Prof Nancy Andreasen as our
guest speaker. Prof Andreasen is no stranger to Singapore
psychiatrists, having spoken here previously. She is an
eminent speaker and authority on biological psychiatry
and schizophrenia, with several books and more than 100
scientific papers published. A former professor of English
before she took up medicine, she is currently Professor
of Psychiatry and Director of the Mental Health Clinical
Research Center at the University of Iowa in Iowa City

2nd Asia Pacific
Psychopharmacology Workshop

Venue: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The 2nd Asia-Pacific
Psychopharmaco-logy Workshop: Setting New Expectations
is a major, one-day, Asia-Pacific, stand-alone meeting
which is a follow-up to the first meeting held in Hong
Kong in November 1998. This meeting, funded by an unrestricted
educational grant from Janssen-Cilag, will provide a forum
for the presentation of the latest information on various
aspects of schizophrenia management with many international
key opinion leaders as speakers.
The meeting will consist
of several plenary sessions in the morning on advocacy,
care provider issues and the role of novel antipsychotics.
The afternoon workshops will be on various aspects of
psychosis management.
Sponsorship covering accommodation
and airfare for 10 doctors is available. Those interested,

Asia Pacific Regional
Neuroscience Conference
5 8 March 2000
Venue: Phuket, Thailand
This international conference,
organised by Eli Lilly, will be held in Phuket, Thailand
from 5th to 8th March 2000. Delegates will be from around
the region, including Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Pakistan,
China, and Japan. Two vacancies for SPA ordinary members
are available. Interested psychiatrists, please register
